I have a johnson 35hp, I took it out a few weeks ago and it over heated,(I think the water pumps bust)i have got it home and much to my relief its not seized, and there is a faint spark. Can anyone suggest anything i could try to get it running before I embark on a total strip and rebulid.
Many thanks to G.Dane for his help with compression settings.
Feel free to email me @ itsdibbybaby@yahoo.co.uk
:)

Please let us know what you found. How was the compression ? Usually overheating causes seizing, when really hot, but pistons loosen up when cooled down. However the cylinders can get scored caused by the lack of tolerance.

How are your sparks ? Try to produce a gap and let the spark jump a 1/2" gap. Can it do it ?

Is your water pump OK now - Do you have a steady flow from the tell tale. Get all impeller fragments out from pump and cooling circuit if impeller broke.
