trim & tilt info

I have an 79/85 hp evinrude o/b.<br />I haven't been able to trim down for sometime.<br />I replaced the motor(electric) because i wasn't get any power to trim down.Installed new motor and still get tilt,but my disapointment no trim.<br />I feel it is time to have somebody replace a seal or two and need to know if this is something a backyard mech.can do or should i send it out?<br />I'm on a tight budget, and if i should send it out,who,if anybody could you recemend.<br />I live in calgary,ab.Canada <br /><br />thanx trev.

Do a SEARCH on this forum and there are ton's of tilt problems. Try to directly power the motor this will determine if the motor is good. Check your hydraulic fluid level. Remove each connection and sand it with 150-220 sand paper and re-attach. Another possibility is the switch itself...disconnect the power and check the connections with an ohm meter.<br /><br />Bob
