My owners manual says to use Champion QL82C plugs, is the the right plug with the newer gasolines out there. I tried NGK plugs but now the motor seems to be idleling rough and maybe miss firing.

Pouli 101:
USE ONLY CHAMPION SPARK PLUGS THAT YOUR
MANUAL CALLS FOR TO SAVE YOUR SELF A MAJOR
HEADACHE.
THE QL82C IS THE ONLY PLUG MADE FOR THAT
OUTBOARD.DON'T USE ANYTHING ELSE.
USED OTHERS IN THE PAST!!! YOU DON'T
WHANT THE HEADACHE.

In order for us to be sure that you are using the correct sparkplug we need to know whether your 96' 115 engine is a 90 degree or 60 degree block design as the two call for different sparkplugs.90 degree block is the QL82YC that is mentioned above with QL77JC4 as optional, and the 60 degree calls for QL78YC.The gap for all of these applications is .030".
