how to compression test

Sorry if this sounds dumb, but how does one test compression on a pull start? Do you simply pull until you level out? Do you need to pull the same number of times on each cylinder for accuracy? Learning every day!

Hi fishndvm<br /><br />You most likely need a helper or at least a srew-in type gauge which is always best.<br /><br />Give it 5 pulls pr. cyl, read and reset gauge. <br /><br />Try to pull even, with throttle open to add mixture and lubrication to cylinders.
