What year this Johnson 88 SPL?

The silver "plug" on the top of the engine block says G3318787. But I can't find that G designation on any of the search sites. Can you decode this? Also, does that mean it's 88HP?<br /><br />Thanks. <br /><br />Tom

Look on the right side (starboard)of the transom bracket for the model and serial number..Somthing is missing?

Ran the s/n at the shop - model number is J88MSLER, it's a 1994 model.<br /><br />-John
