I have two motors. The Evinrude 1973 65hp was recently rebuilt. I checked the lower unit oil and it is a light color (white) as compared to the Evinrude 5.5hp oil (dark oil color). Are some oils in outboards a different color, or do I have some other problem? <br /><br />Thanks for the help!!!!

It noramlly indicates water in the lube. Outboard gear lube is simular to hypoid gear oil, but is designed to allow water to mix better,and has anti foaming characteristics.

Hey, Jets. You really complicate your problems if you post different parts of them in different posts. Make one posting deal with one engine or, in your case, pair of engines. If you have new data, add it to the original post.<br /><br />Red sky.<br />JB
