1952 Johson Outboard, What Oil Mix?

I have an old 52-57 Johnson outboard, not sure which year exactly, that I recently aquired form and elderly couple. I need to know if the gas mix is 50:1 or 30:1. Someone told me 30:1 but I just want to make sure. Any info on Manuals for an engine this old?<br /><br />Thanks<br />Tony

That is getting pretty old as far as the componets and metals. So I would probably run something like that on a good oil twc3 at 30:1 should be ok. I think initially it called for something like 16:1 but that was using non detergent motor oil that wouldn't even come close to providing the lubricating qualities of todays oils.
