Outboard Position on Transom

I have a 17.5 ft Princecraft fishing boat. The Johnson 80 HP motor that was originally on it was stolen and I have replaced it with a Tracker 75 HP. It has turned the boat into a slug. I have changed the prop pitch as suggested by my dealer but not much improvement was realized. I suspect there is some problem with the setup. The motor may be set too high or too low or at the wrong angle. Any suggestions on what I should look for and/or where I could find more information?

Thanks

That's like adding insult to injury!
Man, to have the motor STOLEN off the back of your boat, and then,to have it's replacement not perform!!!
I can only give you the basics, but something is wrong, because 5HP difference is not enough to matter.
The cavitation plate should be even with,to 1" below the keel.
Does it have power trim? Try changing the trim of the motor at any case.
