Lowe 170SE Fishing Boat

Hello, Does anyone have any experience with the Lowe 170SE fishing boat. This would be my first fishing boat. It comes with a trailer and 25HP 4-stroke Yamaha outboard. Ed's Marine superstore is quoting $7999 for the package, Any comments would be appreciated. Thank you!

Lowe genrally makes good boats. What is the max rating for horsepower on the boat?

Some dealers put a small engine on to keep the price down.

Lowe normally sells this with a 50 2S. From Lowe's web site "Max. HP Cap. 50". I would expect the 25 4S to be a real struggle. I see on this dealer's web site that they hang the 40 Yamaha from a lot of their boats. One of those would be a happier choice, IMHO.

I have one of those boats. Mine has a 50hp Johnson. I have been very happy with it. I think a 40 would be fine on it, a 25 would be working a bit hard. The 50 has no trouble at all with it, and will go 34-35(gps) and cruise easily at 22-28.

It is a well packaged, simple fishing boat.
