84 Johnson 25 Won't stay running unless 3/4 throttle

I ran the boat wide open for about two miles. Then when I stopped the engine died. Couldn't restart unless the throttle was almost wide open. Also now she won't Idle unless you turn the throttle 3/4 open. Please help the walleyes' are starting their spring run. :confused:

Howdy, JF. Welcome to the board.<br /><br />Sounds like a clogged up low speed circuit in your carb, but it could be mechanical. . .with the linkage.<br /><br />Another long shot could be that only one cylinder is firing. When you do get her running at 3/4 throttle, does it have normal power or does it act like it is just idling?<br /><br />Give us some more detail if you can. <br /><br />Red sky at night. . .<br />JB :)

I had the same thing happen to me once. The linkage cam off of the timing advance and the timing was stationary at the the full throttle position no matter where the throtle was. :p :p
