Hi All: Weird thing I am wondering about. How many of you with electric start motors have generators to keep the battery charged? I bought a 1962-4 28HP Evinrude with electric start only to find out that there is no generator or alternator in the motor. I bought a manual (Seloc) for small evinrudes in this range of years and found out they were accessories. In the motor is a couple of wires for the "Generator Kit". So does this mean people had to take the battery out and charge it somehow???

Yep, Howard, it did. Most of us installed the generator kit, though. I'd make a small wager that Twin Cities Outboard (Minneapolis)has a kit.

Good luck.
Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Howard
I have a 1958 50hp v4 (Fat 50) no generator. I run all weekend on a charge and carry a spare battery. I have located a kit for mine (wow still in the box) $400.00. For now I take a small charger with me and 100' of cord!
Richard
