Use this site's search feature and search user # 5376. Look at the message titled "Fuel injected two strokes?". The Ficht system is talked about.

Problems:

1)They tend to blow powerheads due to lean
mixtures.There are so many different
theories as to why this happened it seems
that even the factory never quite got a
handle on it.
2)There are no parts available.
3)The company that made them went bankrupt
and has been bought by the Bombardier
conglomerate.Unfortunately most warranties
did not transfer.
4)At least in the high end Bass boat market
it has become virtually impossible around
here to sell a rig that is powered by one.

This is truly one of the saddest things to happen to what was one of the finest American
Outboard manufacturers.

hfactor,
There's a gentleman on this board who's name is **** (short for Richard). He seems to know quite a bit about the 'rude Ficht's. He says the problem people had with them was NOT running them wfo. Sez that's the way OMC initially tested them and that's where they work the best. Low speeds, trolling, etc is where problems occured. Stay on the board and see if you can flush him out. Seems to be a pretty sharp guy.

c/6

hooty
