Fuel pump leak

I have rebuilt the fuel pump for a 1978 115hp Evinrude, but I still have a leak. When I squeeze the primer bulb hard, fuel seeps out of the pump between the rubber gasket and the round plastic inlet cover. I have cleaned the surfaces spotless and the gasket is brand new, and the screw that holds it together is tight but it still leaks. Any ideas? The rebuild kit came with two gaskets, surely I'm not supposed to stack them? How about a fuelproof sealant? Thanks for any help.

Ryan

Re: Fuel pump leak

Are both of the gaskets identical? If not you could be using the wrong one. Either your mating surface is not clean or smooth or you have the wrong gasket for your fuel pump.

Re: Fuel pump leak

Could one gasket be used above the diaphragm and one below it?
