MinnKota 50-PD wiring

Is 10 gauge wires are big enough to connect a MinnKota 50-PD on 12 volts. The wires are about 12 feet long between battery and motor.<br /><br />Thanks <br /><br />Smokey ;)

Smokey,<br /><br />Try this site for info. Click on "Technical Information" and then "Wire Calculator". You will need to know how many Amps the motor draws.... Assuming it only draws 25 Amps, 10 Ga. would be enough. 50 Amps would require #6 wire, Etc....<br /><br /><br /> web page

The 50lb Power Drive has a max amp draw of 42 amps that would require a 6 gauge wire. Also the manual that comes with it says to use a 6 gauge wire.
