I bought a new Humminbird in dash depth gauge with the in hull transducer. Has anyone ever had trouble with them, I havent installed it, but I heard they dont work well. Any info would be great before I start running wires.. Thanks

Re: Depth Gauge Question

I got an $80 uniden last season.<br />Installed it per the instructions and it works perfectly. Maybe the best $80 we've spent on it...nah 2nd best, the 400w amp would be #1 :D

Re: Depth Gauge Question

I second the approval of the Uniden unit; installed one before this season and it's saved me a couple times already. Well worth it!

Re: Depth Gauge Question

I have the Humminbird unit you are referring to (I think). I am using the thru hull transducer. I did have some misgivings just like you, but it has worked almost flawlessly and I have had it for alomost two seasons now. The only issue I have had was erratic readings in REALLY muddy water and a little bobble once in a while at high speeds (45+). Both were to be expected and I don't know if you can get much more from anything really.
