strange gauge problem

Hi

I am having a problem with three of my gauges...volts, temp and trim. Sometimes they work, but usually they go down as I rev the engine. The higher the RPMs, the lower the gauge reads. As I ease off on the gas, they will go back to their expected readings. Could I have a ground somewhere? Any suggestions on steps I could take to troubleshoot? Thanks
Chris

Re: strange gauge problem

Since the only thing common to those gauges is a ground wire, I would check it. Be sure all connections are tight and clean.

It is possible the voltmeter is telling the truth. That is, it is possible you are experiencing a voltage drop. If the reference voltage drops, the other guages may act strange too.

Best thing to do is connect a voltmeter to the same place your voltmeter goes and see if it agrees with the guage. If it does, then you have a more serious problem than a lose wire.

Amir
