Is there a way to check the overheating warning horn? I thought about removing the sensor on the cylinder head and placing in boiling water. Would that work or is there another way to check?

Thanks,
Danny K.

Re: overheating warning horn

Ground the lead going to the sensor on the head, with the key on. The horn will sound if it is good.

Ground-out that wire leading to the temp sensor; make sure the key is in the 'on' position.

Your horn will be supplied with 12VDC when the key switch is in the 'on' position, the ground path from the horn/buzzer goes directly to the temp sensor. That sensor is normally open 'NO' and when it reaches the upper temp limit it closes and shorts to the engine block, thereby, completing the circuit by providing a ground.
