I have a 1995 24' Cruisers Aria, 5.7 Merc I/O. The tach doesn't work at all, and The fuel guage bounces back and forth very fast and crazy. Just wondering if this is a common problem, and a quick fix. The tach never budges, even at startup. I opened the dash, and its all wired, everythings in good shape, and I was wondering, does the tach on a boat run off the dist like a car, if so, any connection points I should check before putting the voltmeter on and trying to chase the problem? The gas guage is nutty too, but at least I know it has power. Are sending units going bad a common problem, and if so, can I get a universal one, or do I have o get a factory replacement?
