Will a transom mount transducer shoot through the hull if installed like a shoot through transducer?

Sometimes. Contact the manufacturer to be sure.

Most offer a different "puck" for in hull installations.

Many will work this way but you need to expect a certain performance (sensitivity) loss as the ultrasound is now partially absorbed in the hull during transmit and again on receive. Several of the mfrs that I have seen show both methods of mounting the transducer in the installation instructions. Whichever type transducer is used, you must be very careful not to get ANY bubbles in the epoxy potting compound between the tranducer and hull.

Re: Transom Mount Transducer

First of all, thanks for the replies.

The reason for the question is im looking at a Hummingbird Matrix 97 in a kit which includes a GPS antenna and a transom mount transducer. I wanted a puck but they wont substitute parts. I do not want to mount the transducer on the tramsom
and thought this might be an option.
