I have a couple of through hull fitings that I am going to replace with slight bigger ones. Problem is that before winter layup I bottom painted the boat. How can I remove only a small area around the fitting so I can just touch up later.?

I believe you should only paint the bottom of the boat immediately prior to launch and not before winter layup. Also through hull fittings do not show since they are under water.

What I meant to say is why change through hull f fittings if it is original boat specifications. Also this type of job should be done professionally or your boat will sink. Remember if it is not broken do not fit it.

Sandpaperman1,

You should be able to sand the area with some 100 grit, make sure you don't get the gelcoat, then touch up later. I used my orbital to remove the old bottom paint

Peace.

Ed.
