what power head will work

Just ruined a piston and cyl. wall on my 1956 5hp M/W motor. Will anything interchange with the original as the lower unit is in perfect condition or does anyone have any idea where I might find a power head for it?

First, you need to identify which 1956 5hp motor you have. There were two very different kinds, "Standard" and "Deluxe". The standard was direct drive, the deluxe had full FNR gearshift. Either way, they were quite popular and plentiful and built under a bunch of different brand names. Gale Products Division of OMC was the builder.
