Bellhousings on the workbench-best way to remove drive shaft?

My AQ131A bellhousing is sitting on the workbench ready for me to pull the driveshaft and replace the PDS bearing. However, I'm not quite sure how to go about this and I don't want to bust anything. I did take the time to research the procedure, but I wasn't able to make it clear to myself.

Can someone help me out here? For instance, what's the best way for me to pull the shaft and in what direction? Then which way does the bearing come out...to the rear or the front?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I believe it all comes out the small end.
There are snap rings holding the stuff inside.
2 of them 1 small on the shaft and 1 big on the housing.
When you reassemble, the bell housing has a grease fitting on the top.
Make sure it gets lots of grease.
If there isin't one put one in.
This would stop a lot of engine pulling.

Thanks. One specific question I have is: at what point does the shaft itself come out? My assumption is that I would first remove the rearmost seal, then then the snap ring holding the bearing in, and then pull the shaft?

OK, I think I may have found the answer to my questions and I'll post it for anyone else who has to do this. First one removes the rearmost sealing ring, then removes the snap ring and locking ring. Then the shaft with the bearing on it can be pounded out from the other side. Then finally you can press the bearing off the shaft.

I got this from a PDF file that Don S. had posted in the past. A search here should find it.

I think the bearing is siezed to the shaft.
It shouldn't need a press??

I think you may find there are two of the larger snap rings. One right behind the seal, and one in front of the the bearing. Both need to come out before the shaft comes out with the bearing. The small snap ring around the shaft can be removed after the shaft is out.

OK, thanks for that.
