Have an 88 Suzuki DT6 with a light coil... Obtained used rectifier/regulator assmbly (Suzuki-32800-95D01) but have a couple questions. As we are using a light-coil rather than an excited field alternator, is it necessary to be hooked to a battery at all times? Eg: running engine in a tank for testing. Second question is where is the rec/reg assmbly usually mounted? All the studs/bolts within reach (with leads connected) are to large in diameter as far as I can tell.
This is an auxilary engine for a sailboat, and would like to use the light coil for additional battery charging (I know it is low output)
TIA
