Am rebuilding 1950 Johnson 5-horse TN25 with neutral lever. Rebuilt carburetor, replaced soggy cork float with wine cork, works fine now. Also replaced impeller.
Attempted to adjust points, but now am getting backfire at lower RPM setting (anything less than the "Start" mark on throttle). I am sure there is a specific procedure to setting the points gap that involves where the rotating magnet (on the shaft, not the flywheel) and the throttle are positioned, does anyone have it handy?
Thanks!
