I just got it a few months back....It s super clean and has been well taken care of. Its about 2400lbs. 18'. The prop say's 14 by 21..its super fast out of the water....revs about 800 at idle...speedometer say's about 52 or so with me( 200lbs) and full tank of gas. It revs around 4800 or so....Is that in the range...Also should i be using synthetic oil. The boat is being winterized soon as i'm in Ontario and the cold will be here soon.Thanks.

I have a 1999 4.3GI, idles at 800, WOT is around 4700. I use Royal Purple Marine Oil. It's 100% synthetic. I think you are good to go. My boat weighs 3500, and 17ft long. 20130809_193617.jpg Just checked, WOT should be 4800 for your engine.

WOT info is in your user's manual. You'll need a little more info than "4.3 volvo" as there are many models. Full model number or serial number and go here and search for it. Owner's manuals are free to look at and print.

Most people will suggest using the oil that the manufacturer calls for which will also be in the user's manual.

Given your boat is mid weight for an 18 foot bowrider, 4800 seems a bit low to me. What kind of prop is on it. I know my sig boat's rpm's dropped a few hundred changing prop brands but staying with the same pitch. Some props have much more aggressive designs.
My old black max 21" that came on my 4.3 would blow through 5200rpms if I'd let it pushing a lot more weight.

It'll either be 4200-4600, or 4400-4800. You should be in the specific rpm range at WOT, trimmed correctly, with a medium load. If you are high or low, you need to change your prop so that you are in that range. That question should be asked in the props forum, you'll get a lot of great help in there if you need it.

Like Skydive said, more info needed. Get your engine model number and go to Volvo's site for the specs.

My 1997 Gi's are rated by Volvo for a WOT range of 4400-4800 rpm. With my props I hit 4600 with a couple passengers and 3/4 tank of fuel, so my motors are running about where they should.

My boat manual. 4400-4800rpm. I propped on the high side and rarely run my engine over 3500 rpms. At 4700 it feels like my boat is going to start flying.
