I recently posted that I was having issues with my 88 Johnson going in forward and reverse, I figured out the problem... My props insides were all gone. My question is is a 12.75 x 21 prop a good prop for an 18 ft pontoon boat? Its on an 1990 Johnson 88 HP. Thanks for you help.

Re: Prop question

Thats way wrong. If I had to guess on a 18 foot pontoon I would start with a 13" pitch.
If there is a choice on diameter get the larger diameter. The Solas props have a good reputation.

Re: Prop question

All brands of aluminum props are going perform OK on a pontoon boat. Usually, Solas is less expensive.

I recommend a 15 pitch, based on the info that your ratio is 2.42.

With a rpm range of 4500-5500, you'll want it to turn at least 5000 rpm to develop full power.
