Mercruiser 4.3L rear end removal

Hello all,

Just got a boat with a 96 Mercruiser 4.3L sterndrive on it. I need some diagrams that show how to remove the rear end (where it couples with boat and engine) so I can get to and replace the starter ring gear. Anyone have this type of info? Thanks!

Howdy,

Welcome aboard!

You'll have to remove the engine in following order.

1. Remove the sterndrive.

2. Remove the engine.





I suggest you get a Mercruiser service manual .....You can buy them in several places including any Mercury dealer.

In the meantime, have a look at the following. Boatinfo - The library, containing manuals, brochures and other technical documents from the last hundred years!
