I am considering a trip to look at this 79 19.5' Merc 228 Sea Ray. Seller sent me some pics. Is it normal for it to sit so low in the rear at rest? Is it taking on water or possibly water logged? I know these boats are heavy but it just does not look right to me. What do you think?

Top of the outdrive is out of the water. Swim platform is out of the water. Looks like normal for that boat to me ...

I think it looks like it might be sitting a smidge low. Perhaps a shot of it out of the water might help gain another perspective, but, yes, to me it seems to be a little heavy in da rear.

At first glance I thought it was a little low, but then i compared it to other pics of I/Os in the water and I think its fine.

The very top of the gimbal ring is visible above the water, that seems to be about right.

Thanks, guys. I'll look for pics to compare. Boat appears to be in nice shape.

Could be the difference between a full and empty gas tank...

Also may depend on what and where the gear is stored onboard. Some people like to throw everything in the back and some like to throw everything in the front. Every boat has a particular balance point to be considered when stowing gear and accessories.
