I am using Lowrance hds 5x gen1. Would like to add structurescan and then would also like to have some more screen space fot tilt screen etc. As I have my IPad with me most of the time, it would be reasonable to use it as a bigger display, instead of buying a new $$$ 8-10" fish finder. Lowrance has gofree wifi 1 module, but it only works with gen 2 and touch units. Mine is gen 1, but it also has NMEA 2000 and ethernet connectivity, so it should be able to send and receive data. Does anybody know or use any other wifi modules, that could do the same trick for gen 1? What software could be used(to get live feed from fishfinder, not dataloggers) for pc or apps for ipad(i understand, that gofree has its own apps and probably works with gofree wifi module only)? Or is there any tricks to get gofree to work with gen 1 unit. Even 1 way communication would be nice...
