Welcome to iboats!:welcome:

The picture is too small to see much, but I'm thinking you're running too rich and you're getting partially burned gas coming out of the exhaust.

Can I get some direction as to correcting the problem, and thanks in advance. Could this be a timing issue?

The usual culprit is the carb: choke not releasing, idle mixture too rich, clogged flame arrestor. What powerplant do you have?

3.0L Mercruiser 135 hp. Runs strong but not so good on gas.
