Quick On Board Charger Question

Good evening Guys,

We live on a city lake that allows pontoon boats with electric motors only. I have an on-board 3 battery charger that charges 3 12 volt batteries. Other than the slight bump to the electric bill, is there anything wrong with leaving the charger plugged in constantly when the boat is not in use? Thanks for the advice.

No problem if it is a multi-stage smart charger. That's how most people use them. However you'll likely kill your batteries within a month on a dumb charger.

Re: Quick On Board Charger Question

Might be overkill, but when I had my Roush I put a battery "tender" from advance or autozone on it to hold charge. Don't know if it can be used on a 12-volt application though. Kinda the same purpose as a charger, but won't pull/charge constant like a traditional charger which could fry your batteries if they are connected to a constant charge.

The charger is made by Dual Pro. The model is the Tri Pro/Professional Series if that helps.
