Switch for trolling motor

Can someone tell me what this switch controls? I dont seem to get voltage through it in either position. It is between the 50 amp breaker and the motor itself.Thanks

can you post a pic of the back of the switch as it may be a standard switch in a rubber boot

That is a foot operated momentary switch for your trolling motor. You step on it when you want the trolling motor to work.

The motor will not run unless the motor itself is turned on and a given speed selected. When you step on this switch current goes to the motor and it operates at whatever speed you have selected. You need to check voltage from the input (line) side to ground and the output (load) side to ground when the switch is activated.
