Timing carb setting 1975 85 hp

Hey to all, new here. I just got a 85 hp 1975 on a Hydra sport bass boat. having a hard time starting it. it will start with starter fluid but once its gone it idles down to low and dies. Can someone tell me how to set the timing / carb linkage on a 85ESL75E?
Mine is all out of wack.

Hi, khewell. :welcome:

Get the oem Service Manual and do the "link 'n' synch" procedure. It is not generic so you can't use the procedure from any other model.

You may want to check the compression of the motor first..........
