Hey guys got this outboard and the choke and this spring were not hooked up. Ive searched the manual and online and cant see how to attach this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. There is also a weight that was just laying in the bottom of the motor. Cant see where this goes or what holds it in place.

There should be a stud on the carb right behind where the spring coil is. There should also be a seat for the spring to sit on so it has free movement. Here is a picture of mine, same motor and year. Not sure why its posting the image sideways but you should get the idea.

That was a huge help.. Thank you very much!

Can you tell me where this goes and what holds it on? Is there a grommet or something that holds it in place?

That attaches to the back side of the upper choke plate near where the spring attach's. It needs to be installed at the 9 o'clock position then rotated up to the 12 o'clock position. it needs to slide into the choke solenoid that is mounted on the top plate. When you rotate it up you should see a little arm on the choke plate that keeps it from popping out. Unfortunately it's to tight to get a picture, if the little arm is broken off check the lower plate as they appear to be the same and the lower plate doesn't use that

excellent! Thank you. So there is nothing that holds the one end in the upper choke plate?

the little plastic arm on the upper choke plate holds the short section of wire that extends pass the nipple. that's why you have to install at the 9 o'clock position, but no there is no grommet or clip you have to attach

Thanks again for your help... rmcclure36... Got the whole thing back together only to find fuel pouring out of the top carb... pulled them out to replace the needle and seat. How do you get the pins out to remove the valves? Just bang them out? Dont want to bend the valves.

The one on top is a hinge pin that should push out a to get to the needle and seat and the other one can be left in as it is a bottom stop for the float level. The one hinge pin might be nearled on one end and will only come out in that direction. JMO

When do you find the fuel pouring out? I have fuel squirting out the upper bowl vent when I prime it and not sure if this is a normal thing. I'm going to pull my carbs off and go thru them and would like to know what you find. Here is float settings I found for these carbs, I'll post if I can find the article.
