Hello fellas, I've been restoring a 14 footer and im in a little bit of a speed bump. I have a 40554c 40 evinrude motor and I can't find out if there's a way to make a kill switch. Ive wired it and can start the motor with my solenoid, and I'm using choke to kill it. Is this the way on these or is there a way to short it out?

Can't find any wiring diagrams for this motor

Thanks for any help

Re: Evinrude 40 killswitch

Try connecting a switch which shorts one set of points to the other.

The wires should already be there. They are the blue wires going to the coils. Connecting the two blue wires together (by pushing the kill button) stops it.

I traced the two blue wires to the harness, then shorted them and worked like a charm.

Thanks!
