Not really thinking too much about it, I pulled the screw on the opposite side of the drain/ vent screws that is above the cav plate, it's a barrel screw ( no head ). Oil did come out of it, but obviously knew it wasn't right when I found the screw marked 'vent'.. Is the LU going to fall apart now?.. It's a '64 Merc 650

Gear lube is changed now, but I got out quite a bit of water so my fears of lower unit reseal came to light... Is this a difficult procedure, or requiring special tools?

Also, Mercury Quicksilver OEM LU seal kit, or Sierra? Price difference is about $50ish, but I have no qualms with spending an extra $50 if the Merc kit is actually better. I know this is not a job I want to redo due to bad parts.
