In the back of my 1986 Trihull there are 2 "boxes" filled with foam on either side of the boat. the foam is above the deck (which makes it above the water line). I assume it is just there to provide extra buoyancy in case the boat gets swamped.
The person who owned the boat before me cut two rod holders on each side into the rear of the boat... This basically opened a hole that allowed the foam to fill up with water.
I already pulled the foam out and cannot find any rot or other problems but i want to put it back together correctly. Would it be ok to get some rigid foam sheets from Home Depot, cut them into stacks, and glue them together as a replacement? It would be really hard to "pour" anything back there without making a mess.
If so am i correct that I should get the Yellow sheets with the foil back? Do I leave the foil on or pull it off.
Thanks in advance.
