ok guys.. heres what I got. serial number F787085 mercruiser 5.7l 350. 1996 marada exectutive series. my water pump is leaking and I am trying to get a quick water pump so I can get the boat out this weekend. I believe the number is 18-3599 sierra water pump. and im trying to cross reference it to a small block chevy so I can possibly get one from a auto store locally. it has the plastic timing chain cover. can someone reference me to something i can give to a auto parts store? or possibly what year and model this water pump will fit in? thanks in advance!

Re: Please help with water pump question!

The water pump it the same as an automotive pump, with a couple of differences. The impeller is cast brass, not pressed tin, and the backing plate is SS, not mild steel. If you ware just going to use the boat for a short while (week or so), then use an automotive pump to get you out of a hole, but it's not a long term fix....

The pump is a standard SBC pump... Or you could get this one... -> Circulating Water Pump for Volvo Penta 856609 3855991, Mercruiser 67859 17670, OMC Sterndrive/Cobra 3854118 987447 983296 986074, Pleasurecraft RA057019, Crusader 30103, GM 6269358 - Sierra 18-3577 - iboats
