55 10hp No spark

Just Bought a 1955 Johnson 10hp Motor. Seller said it runs good. He Lied. Its getting fuel but has no spark. Im looking for some guidence on what to look at first, second, third and so on until I cure the problem. also is there a manual for this motor online?

They all run great, don't you know that, lol ;)

Pop the flywheel and see what is going on. If the coils are original and cracked, they are shot. Might just be dirty points, but as I said, wont know until you pop the flywheel.

Again, if seller says motor 'runs good' but won't demonstrate, assume it's a parts motor.

Check the points and coils well, my first guess would be old coils that are cracked but could just be points are dirty or out of adjustment
Either way pull the fly wheel and check it out.
