Have a 1976 65 hp 3cyl. Starts good and idles good. Will stall on acceleration. Rebuilt carbs,fuel pump, replaced all hoses and clamps. Thought it might be a fuel problem. Took it in to local mechanic. He adjusted carb, set the idle. Told me the crankseals were bad. The way he explained it to me was there are seals on the crank between each cylinder, they are worn out. When I go to give it throttle, choke it and it will stay running. It works OK this way. But was told $1500 to replace the seals!! I am very mechanicly inclined, but this is my first outboard. Is this a job I could do in my garage? I have done some research and cant seem to find the seals he was talking about. HELPP!!!!!
