Can't get the adjuster to the right spot in the cable housing during re-assembly at the intermediate housing. How can I get more slack in the cable assembly, so that I can slide the adjuster further away from the drum and lock it in the cable assy so that the plastic cap will thread on the dble D shaped adjuster. I have pryed and pushed but can't seem to slide the adjuster enough to get threads protruding. Starting to think I have to loosen the assembly at the steering wheel end.

Solved- had to get the wife to turn the steering wheel full port to create the slack needed, once the plastic adjuster nut threaded on all was fine.

Did you lube the cable ways while you had the drum detached from the IH?
