Does it matter what side of Aft the battery will go ? I have a 72 Glastron GT160.

Re: Battery location

Usually best to put it opposite of driving position. Batteries are heavy.

Especially mount it opposite a fuel tank if the fuel tank is port or starboard.

Re: Battery location

Consider the normal loading of the boat. If it's just you, then place it on the opposite side - if two or more people, then consider seating location and weight of people. In my boat, both batteries are on the starboard side along with me. This usually gives us a level ride!!

Hmmmm...Rebuilding my boat now, mabe I'll put it low and in the middle someplace, replacing everything anyway, why not make a place low and inside instead of on stb side up in the new flooring? I could use that space for storage..... Hmmmmm.....! Mabe I can move the trim pump too!
