I have a 5 1/2 hp johnson cd-12. It takes a pressurized tank. I found one at the salvage yard for 30$ but it's a single line hookup. My johnson has a three prong. Any way I could change the hookup on the tank so that I could just buy the correct fuel line hookup to the motor. I'm pretty new to this. I kind of just want to go with the fuel pump direction but didn't want to do that before I even know if my motor runs. Motor all looks good just need a few new parts. Thanks for any help

Re: 55 johnson fuel tank help

Changing the fuel hook up will require modifying the engine to add a fuel pump. The older Johnson and Evinrude motors pressurized the fuel tank to push the fuel to the motor instead of a fuel pump. The pressurized systems work pretty well, I have a couple of motors that use it and since I rebuilt the tank have not had any problems.
