I have a 2-stroke 25 hp Tohatsu outboard engine with tiller handle. According to the official information on the Tohatsu website, it doesn't seem to be possible to use a remote control for this engine. Why is that? I'd still have to start it with the rope, of course, but don't you think it would be possible to use a remote control and console?

Any standard rope start engine can be converted to remote, will need to remove complete throttle system and buy several parts for the conversion. The only down issue would be going aft to rope start the engine along manual choque start. Converting to full electric start & remote will be too costly. Other than that could begin installing a center console with steering wheel and remote box.

Happy Boating

Yep. You need an SRC kit, cables, and RC box. It will still be manual start/choke, but it is done all the time.
