No telltale at idle

Hey I have a 3.3 hp like 2002 Johnson two cycle that has no telltale at idle. However at medium to low throttle it starts to flowing good. When it starts to pee the water is pretty hot coming out but then after a while of flowing it cools down. Is this normal?

Nope,not normal,it should pee @ idle also. You need to replace the impeller in the lower unit.

Welcome to Iboats! Grub is right on. Do not run the motor until the impeller / or pump is replaced. It'll smoke your motor. Just experienced the same thing and once I got into it, the impeller was a nubbin...
You also want to try and locate all of the broken veins (paddles on the wind mill). Not likely, but debris from the impeller could be sucked up in the motor's cooling passages.
