It seems that the further along I get, in this Gulfstream Resto project, the more the door opens onto a longer list of things to do. Today I picked up the motor from the machine shop. Now I have to clean and paint it. Once I drop it in the boat I have piles of pieces that I have to remember how to reinstall.

But at least it really is getting closer.

You're gonna clean that rust off, right?

Oh yeah! Then it'll be undercoated with Glyptol and overcoated with Por15. This engine will be able to sweat it's little heart out and will not have new rust come to the surface. It will be a tedious job to clean it but it must be done. Hard to believe that the factories do not paint them anymore.

Good looking engine.

Hopefully this one won't run off with a band of Gypsies.
