keeps stalling until itwarms up for 5 to10 minutes carb has electronic choke also have problem with play in shifter could this be part of problem

too rich or too lean,try opening up the idle mixture screws some.

Welcome to I boats. My experience is that it is somewhat normal for the need to warm for ~5 minutes (maybe not 10). Did you have it in "throttle only"? Throttle only at about 1000 RPM for 3-5 minutes should be good to back on out. What's wrong with the choke? Not sure about play in the shifter.
