Good afternoon, all.

I have corrected most wiring problems from the switch to the slave solenoid with the wonderful troubleshooting and diagrams, however, something doesn't look right on my new slave. I disconnected each post separately, but still not getting ignition. My wires are quite different than the diagram in Adults Only. Here is what I have:

A - Red/Purple wire
B - Yellow wire - but NO black ground
C - Purple/Yellow wire
D - Yellow/Red wire.

There is an Orange wire that comes off of the Volt Reg that is not connected. IS this a ground? Thanks in advance for the help

Re: '87 Merc 3.7 Slave Solenoid Wiring Difference

There is no ground wire on the 470 (3.7) solenoid, it is grounded through the solenoid case.

You should have the following:

Large posts:

Red/purple wire coming from starter, + 12V all the time
Red/yellow wire back to the s terminal of the starter, Battery voltage when key turned to start.
Small posts:

Yellow/red wire to the start terminal of the ignition switch, Battery voltage when key turned to start.
Purple/yellow wire to coil + , Battery voltage when key is turned to start.

Your solenoid should look like this: http://www.mercruiserparts.com/showSpecialPicture.asp?pn=65057T1
