Well just installed new 383 mag and fuel pump and choke is not getting 12 volts when the switch is on. The purple/ yellow wire connected the r terminal on the starter soleniod supplies the power ,but with the switch on no voltage. I removed the wire and connected it to 12volts and fuel pump and choke worked fine. Why don't I have voltage to R ? The old engine starter solenoid didn't have a R .. Should something else be connected from my switch?

Hi there, That's because there is no power going to the fuel pump while the key is on due to the fuel pump gets it's power while the engine is cranking over then once you build 4+ PSI of oil pressure, the oil pressure switch will take over allowing 12v power to flow to the fuel pump until the oil pressure drops to under 4 psi shutting down the fuel pump as a safety measure.:)
