Well, I had to cut out the rotten transom on a 16' HydraSport old bass boat. It appeard to be holding well for the motor which is too much for the boat(Evinrude 115).
I used a grinder to cut out the transom sides and bottom. Had to. It hurt me to have to do it.
I am thinking that fiberglassing two sheets of ply together, then screwing those together then to the existing body, then laminating the ply to the transom slits like this: <----> ,using fiberglass pad resined to the back of the new transom board would be enough (wordiness, sorry... 1.laminate ply to itself 2.screw in to hull body 3.fiberglass/resin transom to inside of hull 4.resin back of transom to outside of hull sides and bottom.
What else should I do? Anyone have any ideas?
I have a feeling that this is too easy of a solution.
Also, is the two-part bondo marine epoxy at HomeDepot worth it, or would I get the same results with ordinary resin and patience?
Thanks for any suggestions!
